Award-Winning Day Nursery in Taunton
At Brock House Day Nursery, we are dedicated to providing high-quality early years education and care that nurtures every child's unique potential. Established in 2008, our nursery offers a homely, stimulating environment for children aged 3 months to 5 years, combining structured learning with play-based exploration. Our team includes an Early Years Teacher, four Level 6 Practitioners, and fully qualified staff who implement The Curiosity Approach, blending Reggio, Steiner, Montessori, and Forest School philosophies. Recognised with an Ofsted 'Good' rating (2020) and the 'Best Indoor Learning Environment' award, we prioritise individualised care through small family groups and parent partnerships.

Our facilities feature four enclosed outdoor spaces, a dedicated kitchen preparing fresh meals daily, and age-specific learning rooms. We maintain flexibility with session options, including morning, afternoon, school-day, and extended hours, while adhering to strict safety standards like our Nut-Free Zone policy. As the first Somerset nursery to achieve The Curiosity Approach Accreditation (2025), we remain committed to innovative early years practice that prepares children for school and life.

The room features age-appropriate resources and follows individual care routines to ensure each baby's needs are met.
Squirrels Room
The Squirrels Room caters to children aged 2-3 years with structured activities that promote social skills and independence. Our practitioners facilitate age-appropriate play experiences that develop motor skills, language acquisition, and early learning concepts through both indoor and outdoor exploration.
Badgers Room
Our Badgers Room prepares 3-4 year olds for school transition through focused educational activities. The curriculum emphasizes emotional readiness, literacy, numeracy, and social development while maintaining the playful, curiosity-driven approach that characterises our nursery's philosophy.
Forest School
Forest School sessions utilise our extensive outdoor spaces to develop confidence and resilience through nature-based learning. Children engage with natural materials, explore seasonal changes, and develop physical coordination while following The Curiosity Approach's principles of child-led discovery.
Yoga Sessions
Daily yoga activities promote body awareness, coordination, and emotional regulation. These sessions incorporate storytelling and imaginative play to introduce mindfulness practices in an age-appropriate manner, supporting children's overall wellbeing and self-expression.
