Established in 1969, Seine Rigger was named after a type of fishing vessel (a Rigger) designed for the purpose of seine fishing, a particular style of fishing using specialist nets to land its catch in order to minimise damage to the seabed.
Seine Rigger has been in the same family since establishment, operating with the consistent objectives of providing top quality produce in prime condition so as to ensure our customers are always keen to return.We purchase all our fish through suppliers based in North of England and Scottish ports and via Billingsgate Market in London, which are sourced from sustainable stocks and responsibly-managed fishing grounds in British and Baltic Seas.

To avoid disappointment, we suggest reserving a table in advance. Please mention your Gluten-free orders up to 30 minutes prior to arriving at the Seine Rigger. We take telephone orders for take-away collections at all times except Friday and Saturday evenings. Last orders accepted 15 minutes before closing time.

GLUTEN FREE: We can provide gluten free batter on request but require a phone call up to 30 minutes prior. Gluten free batter is not available on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. NUT ALLERGY CONCERNS: We cook our products in premium groundnut oil. The protein which causes allergy problems is burnt off during the processing of the oil and therefore is not harmful.

We cook in premium groundnut oil to ensure a clean 'no after-taste' finish and strive to produce the healthiest product possible using a light, crisp batter and a large-cut chip. All cooked at optimum temperature to minimise the amount of oil and calories whilst at the same time maintaining maximum flavour.

Seine Rigger is one of the first fish & chips shops in the UK to have the confidence in our product to have it analysed. Too often, our fantastic, natural and nutritional meal of fish, chips and mushy peas has received negative press as being part of Britain's growing obesity problem. We felt this was uninformed and unfair criticism and the results shown below help to prove this.
