In order to maintain our outstanding care, we employ those who hold the same core belief - To be the number one nursery in Exeter where children develop and learn through play. As a nursery, we are legally bound to adhere to Ofsted's requirements in terms of staff qualifications.
We are extremely proud that within Munchkins Day Nursery we have 4 Early Years Teacher's and 2 Qualified Teacher's - this is above and beyond the expectation set out by Ofsted. In addition to this, we actively encourage our staff to improve their knowledge and understanding around childcare meaning that we constantly have employees who are studying for further qualifications.

Our Environment
Report
Founded in 2005 by brothers, Chris and Graham Bryant, Munchkins Day Nursery has been exceeding parent's expectations year on year by providing outstanding childcare that can be tailored to children's needs. Set in the residential area of St Leonards, we are close enough to walk into the city centre but far enough away to be a quiet and tranquil environment for the children to feel right at home.
Annexe – Age 8 weeks-2 years
Report
We have a dedicated Under 2's unit onsite so staff can give each child the individual care they need using age appropriate activities and resources. There are daily opportunities to play in the gardens, soft play equipment for them to climb on and activity stations where they can start to explore role play.
Busy Birds – Age 2-3 years
Report
Our focus here is learning through play so we plan lots of activities around creativity - whether that is exploring different textures with shaving foam, corn flour, jelly, water or sand. The children also have the opportunity to do lots of painting and sticking and other art based fun. Alongside this, we enjoy daily outside play, singing and stories, role play and some free play where the children can explore the different equipment.
Preschool – Age 3-5 years
Report
Preschool is a large free-flowing unit. We split the children into key groups and each child is introduced to their key-person when they are settling. The children have free-flow sessions throughout the day giving them the opportunity to develop at their own level and in their areas of interest, but all activities they engage with are carefully planned and scaffold by staff to ensure the children are developing and learning through their play.
