The Company was established in 1919 when William Bowker used his war gratuity to buy the first vehicle. He began making local deliveries in Lancashire earning a reputation for a pioneering spirit and an innovative approach to industry's needs. It wasn't long before he'd assembled one of the largest fleets in the area.

Celebrating our Centenary

Today, Bowker is a major UK and International transport and warehousing operator with 160 vehicles, 300 trailers and over 1 million square feet of warehousing. 2019 marks Bowker's 100th Year Anniversary, making #Bowker one of the oldest road transport companies still operating in the UK today. A new livery has been launched which replicates the vintage blue, red and gold colour scheme historically used by the company.

Droitwich, Knowsley and Ripon are Upper Tier COMAH sites, Preston is a Lower Tier COMAH site storing hazardous substances and our Hull operation - situated just 400 metres from King George Dock provides excellent food grade warehousing facilities.Selby's BRC warehousing is designed for ambient food storage and York's distribution centre stores and distributes a range of non hazardous goods.
