Inspiring Young Artists in Northamptonshire
Established as an Independent Charitable Company in 2012, Nmpat (NMPAT) has dedicated over four decades to nurturing young talent through music and performing arts. As the largest arts teaching provider in the county, we deliver instrumental and vocal lessons across nearly every school in Northamptonshire and Rutland, reaching 15,000 students annually through First Access whole-class lessons and small-group tuition. Our team of qualified, experienced musicians undergoes rigorous safer recruitment processes and enhanced criminal record checks, ensuring a safe and professional learning environment. We operate nine Saturday Music and Performing Arts Centres, offering educational and creative opportunities for all ages, alongside residential courses and over 1,000 young musicians participating in award-winning county ensembles. Our commitment to accessibility is demonstrated through financial support programs, ensuring every child can engage in the arts regardless of background.

With a legacy rooted in the former Local Authority Music Service, we combine decades of expertise with modern pedagogical approaches to inspire, nurture, and enable excellence. Our Youth Theatre and Young Actors Company foster social, emotional, and educational development through drama, while our community choir and early-years programs extend opportunities to all age groups. We maintain transparent administrative processes, including 33 teaching weeks annually with catch-up provisions, and collaborate with schools to develop School Music Development Plans. Accredited as a company limited by guarantee (Company No. 7738151) and registered charity (Charity No. 1145643), we uphold rigorous standards of accountability and public trust. Through concerts, events, and partnerships with national institutions like the National Theatre, we cultivate a vibrant cultural ecosystem for future generations.

Superb - brilliant opportunities for young musicians. Undoubtedly "the best Music Service in the country - and probably the world!". It's our daughter's second home (although sometimes feels like she spends more time involved with NMPAT stuff than she does at home....had amazing experiences and opportunities playing at top venues and we will all miss it when she finally leaves! Superb teachers and brilliant ensembles to aspire to getting into.

Son took his Grade 1 guitar exam. Very helpful staff. Ok sized carpark. But get there early so that you can be sure of a space.
