20 years ago, people in the UK had little choice about where their energy came from. 98% of UK energy was generated from fossil fuels - and with the growing threat of climate change, we desperately needed alternative and more sustainable options. Good Energy was set up to give people the choice to do something about climate change by choosing renewable energy for their homes and businesses - and we've been doing just that ever since.

When our founder Juliet Davenport founded Good Energy in 1999, we were the UK's first 100% renewable electricity supplier. Juliet wanted to create a way for people and businesses to be part of the solution to climate change. Our 100% renewable electricity is generated here in Britain from sun, wind, water and bioenergy.

When you switch to us, we match all the electricity you use over a year with electricity sourced purely from renewables. And if you sign up to our gas tariff too, the emissions from the gas you use will be neutralised through our investment in verified carbon reduction projects. We believe the UK can be powered purely by renewables.
