In England and Wales, Notaries are largely concerned with the verification of documents and information that will be used in other countries in the world, for clients who have business or property overseas, or who are involved in litigation in foreign courts. Notaries form an independent branch of the legal profession, although most are solicitors.

Their practice as Notaries is quite separate from their practice of any other profession or business, and is not controlled by the rules affecting solicitors. While Notaries have the powers of a Commissioner for Oaths, the work that they do is mainly concerned with foreign matters and their procedures are entirely different.
Services
Services and Fees
Report
A Notary's professional work requires a high standard of care, as reliance on such work is made by clients, other parties and foreign governments and officials. The Notary has responsibility to protect against error, omission, alterations, fraud, and forgery. A Notary's job is not a rubber stamping exercise and the necessity for accuracy and validity cannot be dispensed with on the grounds of urgency, inconvenience and expense.
Terms of Business
Report
Clients are asked to supply us with clear instructions, including all relevant background information, at the outset and as the matter continues. Company clients should nominate one individual who is authorised to give instructions on the company's behalf in relation to each matter. Fees are assessed mainly by reference to the time spent on the matter, on the basis of an hourly charging rate.
Data Processing Terms
Report
These Terms shall constitute a separate agreement or they may be incorporated by reference in the relevant Services agreement, as the case may be. The Notary Business is designated by its Clients, Client Affiliates and Notary Business Affiliates (collectively "Instructing Parties") to provide and manage various services, including the Services on their behalf.
