The company's roots go back to 1972 when after an apprenticeship in Ireland and 2 years working in tool and die design in South Africa, Billy Warke returned to Ireland and with his father set up what became the family business, Coleraine Lawnmower Services.
A further 10 years of oil-field manufacturing experience in Canada and some 15 years after the family business was born, Billy Warke returned again to Ireland ready to face some new challenges. CLS equipment hire company was set up and by customer demand, research and development work began on pedestrian aerators, it was in 1989 that the first Groundsman machine was sold.

Groundsman Industries Ltd was established in 1990 specifically to design and manufacture Turf Maintenance Machinery specialising in Turf Cutters, Sod Cutters and Turf Aerators. Based in Ballymoney, Northern Ireland they currently offer a range of Pedestrian and Tractor mounting machines for Turf Aeration, Turf / Sod Cutting Aeration Soil and Core Collection, and Irrigation Pipe or Cable Insertion.

The The Trench Insertion Machine (TIM) range have been developed by Groundsman Industries specifically to insert Dripper-line Irrigation Pipe down to 15cm deep in a one pass operation to provide water directly to the root zone of any grass surface. The model TIM13 has a 13HP engine and has super-ceeded the 9HP on the model TIM49.
