About Us
Report
Spectrum Acoustic Consultants was formed in 1989 as a staff buyout of the acoustic design and consultancy business of ICI Acoustics, the acoustics division of the UK chemical company ICI. The roots of the newly independent group were firmly in the oil, chemical, manufacturing and distribution industries, however we soon began to diversify into other sectors notably the power industry and of course also the building and construction industry.
Accreditations
Report
Safety Schemes in Procedure (SSIP) Certified and accredited by Acclaim. We have achieved Stage 1 of Appendix 4 of the Approved Code of Practice to the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2007 as a Designer. Accredited by SMAS (Safety Management Assessment Specialists) Spectrum is able to fully demonstrate its Health and Safety Competency and holds a current Worksafe Consultant Certificate.
Careers
Report
You should have a degree with relevant acoustics content or a general engineering degree and the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) Diploma. For applicants with general engineering degrees who haven't yet obtained the IOA Diploma, Spectrum will contribute towards funding and support study of the Diploma on day release.
Acoustic Reports
Report
An acoustic report can cover a wide range of issues but needs to be tailored to the needs of the client. The acoustic report is a formal document that will be clear and concise, written in terms that a lay person will understand but will contain further technical information separately within appendices for 3rd party specialists to scrutinise.
Commercial and Offices
Report
Commercial developments which include areas of open and cellular office space demand attention to acoustic detail at the design stage of the project.

Whilst some consideration has to be given to issues of noise from the mechanical services radiating into the environment and external noise entering the office spaces themselves, the most demanding acoustic issues arise internally in ensuring the right acoustic conditions exist for office and conference space users.
