Visiting the UK

The UK is well-known as a popular tourist destination. You may wish to come to the UK to see the attractions or to visit close family and friends. You may have been invited for a particular occasion or wish to come for personal/business reasons. If you are from a non-EEA country then you can apply for a visit visa, which will normally allow you to stay in the UK for up to 6 months.
British Citizenship

You may be eligible to apply to settle permanently in the UK after you have lived legally in the UK for a certain period of time. If you have settled status you are eligible to apply for naturalisation if you have resided in the UK for five continuous years; however, there are exceptions. If your application is successful, you will be granted British citizenship and you will be permitted to hold a British passport.
Partners / Spouse Visa

If you are in a relationship with your partner who is a British national, you can apply to join them and live in the UK for settlement purposes. If you are already living in the UK with your spouse or partner, you may be able to apply for further leave under this category under certain criteria. The definition of 'Spouse Visa' includes: husband, wife, civil partner and unmarried partner.
