The Hare and Hounds is a gorgeous 16th Century coaching inn set in the pretty village of Levens, in the Lyth Valley, on the edge of the Lake District. It's a proper village pub, full of character, with a mean cocktail list, local cask ales, great craft beers and delicious comfort food. It has rooms too, beautifully styled with lots of thoughtful touches to make for a lovely stay.
Run by Ash and Becky Dewar, who bought the pub in 2013 and have been lovingly taking care of it ever since, The Hare and Hounds welcomes everyone - kids, muddy boots and dogs included. Our 5 lovely letting rooms are back open. We have devised a self check in system, and lots of individual touches in our rooms to ensure guests feel safe and re assured during their stay.

We have a fantastic beer garden with amazing views on a clear day. We have some sheltered tables should the weather close in, not that it rains often in the Lakes! We can serve food in our Beer Garden 12 - 3pm Monday to Saturday. After 5pm each day please ask inside if it possible for us to serve food outside.

We take our drinks very seriously and have spent many a happy hour creating our cocktail list, researching craft ales and testing our tipples. Whether you fancy a refreshing lager like our local Fell Brewery Helles, a unusual Blue Moon, an elegant Aspall Cyder, or a gluten free pale ale we will have something to suit.

Our food is simple, fresh and delicious. We have hand-rolled-to-order pizzas, gorgeous comfort food dishes and our burgers are becoming renowned. Plus all our food is locally sourced and made in our own kitchen - we take great pride in it. We serve food 12 - 3 / 5 - 9pm Mondays to Fridays and all day Saturday & Sunday.

We have five beautiful rooms for you to stay in, so you can really make a night of it. Each one is individually styled, with lots of character and they are all named after past owners and landlords of the pub. All our rooms are ensuite, with dreamy beds, gleaming bathrooms and carpets so plush your toes will sink into them.
