
We are based on the London Road in Leigh-on-Sea, and also run classes at five other venues in the area. We teach traditional shotokan karate to children and adults of all ages from the age of 4 years. Whether you are looking for a martial art to enhance your life socially, mentally and physically, an activity the whole family can do together, or a sport to excel in, you'll find it all here at Westwood Academy.

The Academy was established in 1993 by Alan and Carol Parrish, with the aim of teaching traditional karate to the highest standards to people of all ages. We teach Shotokan Karate, the most popular style of karate in the world today today. Westwood Karate Academy is affiliated to Traditional Shotokan Karate U.K. and members are licenced and insured through this body.
Class Timetables & Booking

Attendance in the dojo must be booked in advance. All the Honbu dojo classes are still being streamed live online for all age groups, and these DO NOT need to be booked. Please contact us if you need the login details. Westwood Karate Academy reserve the right to make changes to the training timetable, including cancellations when necessary.
Free Trial
Report
Register for our free trial and you will have four weekly classes with one of our qualified black belt instructors. In each class you'll run through all the basic techniques you'll need so that you'll be able to join our regular classes with confidence. When you have completed your trial, you'll be able to choose to train at any of our five venues in the area.

A busy weekend culminated with an online TSKUK association course. Westwood instructors Alan and Carol Parrish, Marites Tomlinson, Charlie Tarr, and Mason Gill were part of the instructing team, and approx 300 members trainined along at home. Another Westwood dojo opened today at Rayleigh MegaCentre.

Hannah Mitchell and Grace Durrant were members of the TSKUK kumite team which won silver medals in the Rotational event and were crowned European champions in the Shobu Ippon category. 8 year old Dhruvan Appachi won his Kata event, and Mason Gill became our fourth European Champion by winning the prestigious senior 21-35 years kumite event.
