Constant investment in new equipment, facilities and staff training enables us to provide an excellent standard of RCVS accredited Veterinary medicine and surgery. The current practice building was purpose built in 1972.
Since then we have extended as the practice has grown, with a new bright reception area to welcome clients into the waiting room. We have two consulting rooms, to offer more flexible and convenient appointment times. We have a purpose built operating theatre for surgical procedures, and a separate prep room with anaesthetic machine for dental descales and dental surgeries and other minor procedures.

Our small animal and equine veterinary practice in Sturminster Newton, Dorset, was originally founded in Church Street over fifty years ago. The previous owner purchased it in 1967 and moved it to Rixon, at the corner of Station Road and Butts Pond Industrial Estate. In 1972 a purpose-built surgery was constructed, enabling it to be moved from the house to where it is presently situated.

After qualifying from Edinburgh University, Christine spent several years in mixed farm, small animal and specialist equine practices across the UK and abroad also setting up and running the veterinary unit of a rescue centre. She has always been a keen horse rider, is interested in and has competed in all aspects of horse riding, from dressage, show-jumping and eventing, to endurance and driving.

Our VIP plans have been designed by the Blackmore Vale Vet Team to provide preventative healthcare plans for our patients, that are comprehensive whilst offering a discount. The plans complement veterinary insurance and are not a replacement as their aim is preventative healthcare. The plans are designed to nurture optimal preventative healthcare for our patients.
Neutering Offers

We are working closely with the RSPCA North Dorset Branch to try and reduce the number of unwanted cats in rehoming centres and living as strays. They are currently offering a scheme to help eligible people neuter their cats (young and old) for just 10, including microchipping. The Cats Protection may be able to help through our means tested neutering scheme.
