St Thomas' Nursery
We have expanded in recent years to accommodate more children, whilst maintaining a small and friendly, welcoming setting. Our commitment is to provide high quality early years child care and education for children aged 2-4years. Parents and carers are welcomed as part of our nursery family and we work in close partnership with them.

We support a parent's right to be valued and respected, consulted, kept informed and included at all levels, to provide a service that promotes equality and values diversity. It is our aim to ensure that each child feels safe, cared for and valued and whose individual development is supported by a stimulating environment.

Your child is about to begin nursery and it is a really important and exciting time for both of you. You may have some questions to ask about starting nursery, hopefully our website can answer some of these and help to prepare both you and your child for their time at nursery. Before your child begins Nursery you and your child will have an opportunity to visit the nursery and meet the staff during an induction session.
Learning through play
Report
We operate within the Early Years Foundation Framework which continues into Reception class. This guidance promotes children's learning through play and exploration, linked with adult support and encouragement. We plan for the children's individual interests within an environment that supports their development.
Playing & learning indoors
Report
Our aim is for the learning environment to be seamless throughout, with the same learning opportunities available both indoors and out. We are very proud of our environment which we ensure matches the needs and interests of the children.

We provide the areas of continuous provision which cater for a broad spectrum of experiences, these include book area, sand, water, malleable, texture, workshop, construction, ICT, music, small world, problem solving and numeracy, mark making, home corner and role play.We enhance these areas according to the children's projects as well as planned activities to support and promote learning and development.
Playing & learning outdoors
Report
Our children have access to the outdoors at all times of the day. This allows children to play where they are happiest and most confident; the outdoors is simply an extension of the learning environment, being outdoors has an equally positive impact on child's development and well-being. Children can explore on a larger scale, be physically challenged, encouraged to take controlled risk and make decisions.
