My name is Michael Lawrence and together with funeral directors Emma and Colin we operate Medway Funeral Directors. Together we have decades of experience and we like to think we provide excellent levels of service. I am very proud to be a second generation Funeral Director and have been serving the families of Maidstone and the local villages for over 40 years.
Having written that I now feel really old! However, with all the knowledge and experience of a second generation, family owned business we know how to concentrate on caring for your needs with commitment and understanding. We have a funeral home in Strood and Walderslade for your convenience. You will find my colleague Colin Randall as the funeral director at the Strood office.

Nothing worse that going into anywhere, least of all a funeral directors, and being met by a miserable face. When you visit we will probably force feed you tea or coffee for the duration. You can have brandy in it too, or just the brandy if you like! It does sometimes come in handy when you visit the chapel of rest.
Direct Cremation, what does it mean

Direct cremation in Kent has become more popular. It has always been available even though many funeral providers will tell you its an entirely new idea. Like very young children they think they know it all! We will then take the deceased in their coffin, to the appropriate crematorium for cremation at an unspecified day and time.

For a further year we have agreed to be the event sponsor for the Weald of Kent Rotary Club. The usual 3,6 or 9 mile walks. I will be there, somewhere. Remember this is all proceeds to Cancer Research UK as this company sponsors the entire event. Due to the awful Pandemic the Rotary Club of the Weald of Kent have decided to cancel the walk for everyones safety.

We have recently been joined by the very lovely and helpful Karan. She is another like Emma, very keen to help with any requirement you may have. Following a long period of training and observing, (because you lean a lot from just watching sometimes) Karan is now the Funeral Director at the Bearsted office.
