Immigration & Asylum
Report
At Bassi Solicitors we understand how confusing Home Office visa regulations can be so from the outset we offer all clients in-depth one-to-one consultations with a Senior Solicitor. Our solicitors will listen to your individual circumstances before advising and explaining the relevant laws and next courses of action in a simple and understandable manner.
Indefinite Leave to Remain ILR
Report
The right to permanent residence, or settlement in the UK is know as indefinite leave to remain (ILR) and means that you are free to reside in the UK without time restrictions. The eligibility requirements for applying for ILR are quite complex and vary depending upon the visa which you have.

We will advise you on when you will be eligible to apply for ILR, the processing times depending upon which visa you have and the Home Office fees for doing so.We will also advise you as to whether you meet the other eligibility requirements such as the English language and good character requirements.
Applications for Overstayers
Report
If you remain in the UK after your leave has expired and have not submitted an in-time application to the Home-Office to seek additional leave then you will be in breach of the immigration rules and known as an 'overstayer'.

However, if you do now wish to regulate your stay, you may be able to make a discretionary leave to remain application to do so which will depend upon a number of factors such as the length of residence, if you have any children, or if you are now in a relationship or your child has completed 7 years in the United Kingdom, or if you have completed 2 years as an overstayer etc.
Entry Clearance Applications
Report
Although some Commonwealth and non-visa nationals coming to the UK for tourism purposes are granted up to 6 months entry clearance upon arrival, all other visas require an application for entry to be made in the applicant's home country. If you are looking to work or study in the UK, you will need to make an application under the Points-Based System.
