My work collegues have had an on going issue with this venue which goes back as far as 2019:
Initially We booked the venue for 27 days in 2019 (July and September). During our stay we had a lot of security issues around fire safety, electricity, plumbing etc which our staff repaired for the venue in order to make the place workable for our event and safe for our participants. After our event we were promised a refund of our housekeeping deposit which never arrived so we requested the owed money to be discounted against our future bookings.
Additionally on arrival we discovered that we couldnt

I have booked this venue a very long time ago for an event, which got cancelled due to pandemic. We agreed to postpone it to a year later however restriction rules continued and we had to cancel it again. Than I asked for a refund as did not wanted to wait another year however they said they can not give me a refund, which I know now that they should have according to UK law. I asked them a date which we can do something small in return of the deposit I have paid, they agreed. Now it is one month before the gathering they have been avoiding my calls and they have send me an email saying they can

There was some trepidation amongst the 8 or 9 families getting together at Sparkford after such an unprecedented 18 months, but the five days could not have been better. The house is immense and beautiful, the rooms spacious and the beds comfortable. As we had over a dozen children of all ages with us and several pets the relaxed nature of the decor and furnishing was perfect for a very pleasant few days, and the wonderful Vincent was super quick to answer any questions we had or pop round with fresh towels, etc. The pool, the grounds, the barn, the cellar club, the whole place has a magical feeling

As I understand it, the company that rents this house out has gone into liquidation leaving people who had paid them money out of pocket by hundreds of thousands of pounds. Appreciate its been a tough time but not sure they should be continuing to take money when they arent offering any compensation at all. Just be careful when you book.

They have gone into liquidation refusing to refund the money that we put down - over three thousand pounds. They still seem to be taking bookings though.... confused. Terrible behaviour Please check before you book

This place needs some money spent on it. Had a great time there but that was more about the people we were with than the place. The owners really need to lift their act. Check it out before booking so to avoid disappointment.
