The Hillier family have been engaged in sympathetic, yet efficient service through four generations of funeral directors. When Harold Hillier established the company the dust had only just settled after World War 1. He saw service in the Royal Flying Corps, flying De Havilland 9 A Bombers. He was born in Swindon in 1900 the same year as Queen Elizabeth, George VI' wife.

We are committed to supporting families after the funeral with our Bereavement Care service, where you are able to talk to someone in complete confidence who will understand how you are feeling. We can visit your home or you can visit our Head Office in Victoria Road, our Chapel of Rest in Whitworth Road, or our Highworth Office & Chapel to do the arrangement.
First Steps
Report
The hospital or nursing home staff will make arrangements for the doctor to issue the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death (MCCD) and the doctor's surgery will advise you when it is available. Let the home or hospital know which funeral director you have chosen to save any confusion or delay when a death occurs and if a cremation or burial has been decided.
Registering a Death
Report
There have been some changes to the normal death registration process. These are to facilitate social distancing practices and to make the process easier. As a result, a death is currently registered via a telephone appointment with the registry office. The first step is to contact the doctor (GP) or hospital about obtaining the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death (MCCD).
