Hansfords was founded in 1908 by Joscelyn Hansford who passed it on to his son Don and is now owned by his grandson Matthew. It is now thriving as a specialist menswear clothing store in the centre of the historic City of Chichester. This website aims just to give you a small insight into what our store can offer you.

Hansfords is truly a family business. Such was its success that Joscelyn Hansford was able to expand his business to open additional stores in the popular seaside towns of Littlehampton, Brighton and Worthing. However, during WWII a shortage of goods and lack of staff forced their closure and it wasn't until after the war when Matthew's father, Don Hansford, joined the company that another store was opened.

We are proud to announce that amongst the wide array of quality items in Hansfords, we are now stocking the celebrated brand Barbour - famous for it's waxed jackets. The Barbour brand sits perfectly with Hansfords' high expectations and family business ethos. Its story began back in 1894 at 5,M arket Place in South Shields and today the 5th generation family-owned business still has its headquarters in the North East.
