Black Mountain Quarries Ltd is a family-owned business based in the heart of the Black Mountains. Our four working quarries provide block stone for building and walling; flagstones for internal flooring and external paving; and split stone for traditional and modern roofing tiles. We also offer bespoke stone for commercial landscaping such as boulders and rockery.
We started our business in 2005 on the family farm in Herefordshire, at the foot of the Black Mountains. The stone we quarry here in Tybubach - technically a red Devonian sandstone - is characterised by its green-grey colouring combined with russet brown tones. It became our very first product and we named it BMQ Random Building stone.

At Black Mountain Quarries we have created a unique new range of building stone which blends random and coursed blocks together. Our Vintage Building Stone range offers good quality traditional building and walling stone at great value. Available in sandstone and granite, vintage walling stone offers a more traditional feel than coursed stone, and can also be tumbled for a more weathered / antique appearance.
