In 1979, David returned to Throstlenest from Cordwainers as a qualified Saddler and established a saddlery workshop making and repairing all types of saddlery and bridle work, in those days it was mainly repairs with a small amount of stock as a side line. As the word spread David started making more and more new items from Hackney Harness to Designer leather chairs featured in interior magazines.
As the workshop got busier so did the shop, and when David married Jayne they worked as a team, expanding the business with several showroom expansions and shop openings - their favourite one being graced by the great Milton and John Whitaker, where everyone had a fantastic night.
