A visit to us need not always be about having sore feet or a foot problem, as we offer regular foot care and preventative maintenance (such as toe nail care and skin treatments), advice on gait (which may affect other areas of your body such as back and hips) and guidance on appropriate footwear. There is no difference between chiropody and podiatry.

Chiropody is the old term for treatment by a foot health professional but the term podiatry is becoming increasingly used as it is a common term, used all over the world, for treatment by a foot health professional.

Treatments
Report
The team at AH Parfitt Chiropodists will require a list of your medication and will take a detailed medical history, assessing the anatomy of your foot to create a personal treatment plan for your individual foot health needs. During your treatment the podiatrist may need to use sterilised instruments and/or mobilisation techniques as well as offer medicaments.

This is for anyone concerned they are suffering from Diabetes, and experiencing foot problems. 10g Monofilament test to provide measurable and comparable information regarding sensation in the feet. If you have diabetes you have an increased risk of developing narrowing of the blood vessels (arteries), known as peripheral arterial disease.
Children and Growing Feet
Report
Custom molded prescription orthotic (shoe inserts) to realign the lower extremity. In many cases this will have a relatively quick positive effect on the leg pains these children are experiencing. Physical therapy to improve overall muscle flexibility and to improve muscle strength, coordination and balance.
Ageing Feet
Report
As we age, we naturally develop more problems with our feet due to normal daily wear and tear of joints, but also because the skin starts to become thin and loses its elasticity, as well as being dry and much more fragile. Feet can start to show signs of ageing at any age if good routine foot care is not practised, but generally it is most common from your fifties onwards.
Common Problems
Report
You may want to see a Chiropodist / Podiatrist for advice and treatment if you have painful feet, thickened or discoloured toenails, cracks or cuts in the skin, growths such as warts, scaling or peeling on the soles, or any other foot-related problem. A Chiropodist can also supply orthotics, which are tailor-made insoles, padding and arch supports to relieve arch or heel pain.
