Founded in 2001, Herts Interpreting & Translation Service (HITS) is one of the largest and most successful independent, non-commercial services in the UK.
Managed by the registered charity Community Action Dacorum, HITS provides language support services (face-to-face, video and telephone interpreting, written translation, audio recordings, language assessments) for Health Trusts, Local Authorities, Criminal Justice Agencies, non-statutory sector organisations, commercial and private clients throughout the Home Counties, the East of England, Greater London and beyond.

Founded in 2001, Herts Interpreting & Translation Service (HITS) is one of the largest and most successful independent, non-commercial providers of language support services in the UK.
From a modest beginning of its service in 2002, delivering just five jobs a week with just 10 interpreters, HITS has grown to the point where it now delivers approximately 40,000 interpreting and translation assignments annually, calling upon more than 500 regular interpreters and translators every month.

Face to Face Interpreting

HITS provides face-to-face interpreting in more than 140 languages and dialects, on-site at the specified date and time. Face-to-face interpreters provided directly by HITS are fluent and literate in both target languages, conversant with the terminology across a wide range of public services and committed to the ethics of public service interpreting e.g.

Report
All interpreters and translators working on behalf of HITS are in possession of a recent criminal check at the appropriate mandated level. In addition to providing this service for its own interpreters, HITS is happy to provide DBS checks for individuals or organisations upon request.
