Business Loans Scotland

Business Loans Scotland (BLS) was established in 2019 as a consortium of Scotland's 32 Local Authorities to provide loan finance to new and growing SMEs across Scotland. We served as the Fund Manager for the Scottish Growth Scheme, a 17 million loan fund financed by the Scottish Government, until funding ceased in July 2024. Our team now focuses exclusively on managing and collecting our existing loan portfolio while maintaining our commitment to supporting current borrowers. We work closely with SMEs to manage repayment arrangements effectively, offering guidance on outstanding balances, repayment schedules, and early settlement options. Our operations remain grounded in the principles of transparency, accountability, and partnership that have defined our approach since inception.

We continue to collaborate with local authorities and stakeholders to ensure responsible loan management. Our team brings extensive experience in financial services and public sector collaboration to every borrower interaction. We remain dedicated to providing clear communication and tailored solutions for businesses navigating repayment challenges. Our legacy of supporting Scottish SMEs through strategic funding remains central to our mission, even as we transition to portfolio management. We actively signpost borrowers to free debt advice resources when needed, maintaining our focus on sustainable financial practices.
