Got ripped-off for 30 for a 1.8 mile journey. Exactly the same journey was 18 the next morning. Driver (Grey Volvo Reg HG67 SUV) spent most of the journey justifying his fare with bullsh*t. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Mixed experience in Edinburgh. Always lots of cars and easy to get a taxi in the city, but some prices were quite steep and Uber was sometimes cheaper by more than 10. Some taxis charged for card payments too.
