Established in 1990, Sally Middlewood represents three decades of passion for traditional Yorkshire farmhouse baking. Our journey began as a small dessert supplier and has evolved into a cherished destination offering handmade breads, cakes, pastries, and traybakes made with free-range eggs from our family farm. Nestled at Glebe Farm along the A64 between Malton and Scarborough, our 350-acre working farm supports our bakery operations while maintaining separate agricultural activities.With a dedicated team of ten local staff, we prioritise quality ingredients and welcoming hospitality, ensuring 90% of our products are made on-site. Our familys farming legacy, dating back to 1956, continues through Sallys brother Andrew and son Robert, who manage the farms cereal crops, fodder beet, sheep, and free-range hens. We remain committed to providing exceptional baked goods and a homely atmosphere, creating memorable experiences for locals and visitors alike.

Tearoom Services
Homely tearoom serving breakfasts, light lunches, cream teas, and Yorkshire fayre seven days a week. Features homemade cakes, seasonal specials, and Yorvale ice cream. Converted from a tractor shed to retain farmhouse character with garden seating available.

Artisanal production of handmade jams, marmalades, and chutneys using traditional recipes. Ideal for gifts or enhancing home meals. Made in small batches to maintain quality and freshness, complementing our bakery offerings.

What are your regular opening hours?
We’re open Monday to Saturday 9:00am–5:00pm and Sundays 10:15am–4:00pm.
Do you offer birthday cake customisation?
Yes, we create celebration cakes in chocolate, lemon, coffee, or vanilla sponge. Please call 01944 710256 to order.
What makes your bakery products unique?
Over 90% of our items use free-range eggs from our working farm, ensuring freshness and quality in every baked good.
Can I buy your products elsewhere?
Our eggs are sold directly from the farm shop, but all other bakery items and preserves are exclusive to our tearoom.
Are pets allowed on the premises?
Dogs are welcome in our garden area but must be kept on leads.

This place is a hidden gem!! We visited here during Yorkshire wolds way hike this summer and it is absolutely worth the visit :)!! The garden is gorgeous and staff member were so lovely :)! English breakfast was truly marvellous and the eggs which they mentioned was from the chickens we saw in the next field tasted incredible. Tea was really nice and we ate the millionaire shortbread later as well which was delicious. Highly recommend this beautiful place :)!

Food really nice and reasonably priced. We went a bit mad in the shop and bakery but everything was too good not to. We will definitely be back

The most brilliant place! Will be returning many times. The selection of cakes was incredible and the 3 we got to share were stunning!! (Ginger cake, chocolate orange tart and plum custard tart.) All very nicely presented and mum was very happy with the extra pot of hot water for the tea! Nice outdoor seating area in the lovely gardens and great produce to buy in the shop too. Excited to make my way through the whole array of cakes!

Every year we stop here on the way home from our holiday. It's lovely for tea and cake or a light lunch. With lots of outside seating it's good for dogs if the weather is nice.

Love this place even more so because its dog friendly
Today was all about breakfast
Lovely well cooked breakfast 3 thick pieces of bacon 2 Sausages grilled tomato and beautifully cooked egg plus extra mushrooms
Including Tea or Coffee 2 slices of seeded toast and Marmalade or jam
Sitting outside in the gorgeous sunshine
And of course no trip would be complete without a slice of lemon drizzle to take home and a jar of rhubarb curd

We stopped in this garden haven (Heaven) for lunch on Thursday. We had ham sandwiches and cheese and pickle. Both were presented perfectly, made on demand, brilliant!

Sally tea room is a lovely place with a beautiful summer garden and well spaced seating. The food is delicious, I really like there strawberry tart and custard . There cherry pies sell out quickly, still waiting to try one. The staff are covid safe, and really nice and friendly. You can eat in or take away. There full English are reasonable price for locally sourced food. I will definitely be back for more.
