Special Friends Vets is the place to go in Redditch for professional yet personal veterinary care. Independently owned and run by Tim and Ceri Land since 2005, our skilled and stable team aims to provide high standards of modern medicine whilst maintaining the individual care that your pet deserves. We know that every pet and owner has different needs, and we are here to listen to them, doing what we can to maximise well-being for all members of the family.
Services
The Team
Report
Tim qualified from the The Royal (Dick) Veterinary College, Edinburgh in 1998 and worked in several mixed animal practices in the Worcestershire area before joining Special Friends in 2005. Together with his wife Ceri, they are owned by 3 dogs, Stanley the cat and 2 children. Away from work, Tim enjoys playing guitar and keyboards in a local covers band, walking and reading.
Facilities
Report
Here at Special Friends we are always investing in our premises and in-house equipment so that we can provide a high standard of care to our patients. In-house laboratory capable of running haematology, biochemistry and urine tests; also in-house microscopy. Daily courier service (Mon-Fri) to IDEXX laboratories for any tests not able to be run on the premises.
Repeat Prescriptions
Report
Most of these are 'prescription only medications' (POM-V) and therefore need to be dispensed by one of our vets for an animal classified as 'under their care'. Your pet will need an assessment by a vet at least once every 6 months, and it is entirely up to the vet as to whether this needs to be more frequent.
Rabbits
Report
At Special Friends we know that owning a 'small furry' can be just as rewarding - and as challenging - as having a cat or a dog; indeed many of our staff are experienced owners themselves!. Rabbits have particular needs for housing, company and diet; a single rabbit in a hutch in the garden fed a standard rabbit muesli is unlikely to be happy and healthy!
Birds & Reptiles
Report
If you have a more exotic pet, such as a bird or a reptile, we will happily see them to provide first opinion advice and treatment if possible. We may advise referral to a specialist exotics vet which deals exclusively with these species, and so has the most suitable facilities for handling and medications available.
