I strongly believe that bikes which are used mainly on road or light trails should be appropriate for such use, therefore I always supply adult bikes with semi slick tyres as standard, and avoid suspension systems - this makes for faster easier cycling on roads and light trails.Currently I am developing a range of low cost emphatically lightweight custom design alloy / carbon bikes for road and off road use.

Almost all customers for adult bikes are buying bicycles for fitness purposes or for commuting and will not be using them for true off road cycling. Run of the mill mountain bikes are not ideal for such use - they are often heavy and have high levels of rolling resistence due to the wide knobbly off road tyres.

Most cyclists use ordinary mountain bikes with off road tyres but never use their bikes in true off road conditions. I know from experience of commuting on such bikes that a few simple modifications, as follows, will greatly enhance performance. These tyres transform the ease of pedalling and have furthur advantages in lower weight and longer tread wear.
